Submits authorization proposals and reports to the Production and Localisation Manager; cooperation, information exchange and production management with NSO’s, Head Office and external providers; cooperation, information exchange and production management with Product Planning Section, Marketing Communication Division, local Webmasters of NSOs, agencies, Nikon Corporate.

 

POWER OF AUTHORITY:

 

All authorisations must be obtained from the Production and Localisation Manager (this position does not have signatory rights)

 

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide comprehensive localisation services to the European Head Office in all areas of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR

 

  • Support the Production and Localisation Manager in the localisation processes and procedures

 

  • Localisation processes and procedures are fully documented in an accurate and timely manner
  • Positive feedback from the Production and Localisation Manager

 

  • Coordinate the language localisation process (~30 languages) in close cooperation with external partners, in accordance with the company’s requirements for cost/quality and delivery

 

  • Multi-language glossary is produced and promoted in partnership with Nikon Corporate within assigned budget and guidelines
  • Availability of a European pool of Subject Matter Experts, assigning and chasing glossary, style definition, and terms validation jobs
  • Language resources (glossaries) are correctly maintained
  • Pan-European internal and external teams are actively involved to achieve results 
  • Internal and external language quality evaluations performed to measure and maintain translation vendor quality and to take action on results
  • Documents in English are periodically proof-read, noting and correcting errors of style, grammar, punctuation, product and brand treatment as a measure to improve supplier quality
  • High quality control and close cost control of translation projects demonstrated

 

  • Develop and deploy new processes and procedures in response to evolving requirements

 

 

  • Suggests and influences service enhancements to better meet customer needs
  • Support in source (English) language quality control

 

 

  • Highest quality control of languages
  • No errors in spelling and grammatical structure
  • Positive feedback from key stakeholders
  • Support in maintenance of objectivity and adoption of company standards in language, style and tone

 

 

  • Maintain the company’s localisation intranet including organization and control of user access
  • Support in the process of internal and external language quality evaluations to measure and maintain translation vendor quality and to take action on results

  • Evaluation reports prepared on a regular basis and presented in a commercially focussed manner

PERSON PROFILE

 

TITLE: Localisation & Production Coordinator

 

DEPARTMENT: Marketing Systems

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Successfully completed graduate studies  - Bachelor Degree in English language studies, Economics, IT, Linguistics, International Studies or relevant Media/Communications education or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in a consumer electronics and/or consumer goods and/or FMCG organisation desirable
EXPERTISE/KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of some or all of the following would be useful but is not essential

 

  • Localisation tools (e.g.: Trados) and DTP applications (Framemaker, InDesign) and HTML/XML
  • Characters set encodings, code pages, Unicode
  • Experience in dealing with suppliers
SKILLS:
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills (fluency in English required), other European languages desirable, ability to communicate with people at all levels, good presenter
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and interact with people from different cultural backgrounds
  • Influencing skills, able to present an opinion and support it
