This module aims to:
- Equip students with the capacity to adapt to and familiarise themselves with new and emerging technologies relevant to the translation industry
- Provide students with an overview of the translation industry and encourage them to critically engage with the current industry issues and trends and their impact on the future of the translation profession
- Enable students to gain an understanding of the varied roles and career paths available to them within the translation industry
- Develop entrepreneurial skills and provide experience with regard to activities that revolve around the business side of translation, including:
	- knowing how to overcome the no-experience barrier to employment
- being able to network effectively and market themselves as language service providers
- the practicalities of setting up and running a freelance business
 
- knowing how to negotiate deadlines and conditions, cost and invoice projects, draft a contract, avoid scams etc.
