How to Manage Your Translation Projects by Nancy Matis is a comprehensive how-to book on managing and successfully completing translation and localization projects. How to Manage Your Translation Projects offers a step by step guide for beginners as well as experts in the field who wish to gain a better understanding of the entire process of translation. The book is written in a more or less chronological order of how an actual translation project would proceed, starting with specifying who all of the involved parties are, defining requirements, and gathering data. It then takes us through the entire life cycle of the project, involving not only the actual translation-related tasks itself, but also the various administrative, accounting, financial, and business tasks that go along with it. There are plenty of helpful examples provided throughout the chapters in the form of charts or tables that give an idea of how to manage real-world challenges.

It was instantly clear to me after reading How to Manage Your Translation Projects that the author, Nancy Matis, is extremely knowledgeable in her field and knows exactly what she is talking about. I was quite impressed with the detail in the book as with the fact that Nancy clearly knows not only her field, but just as importantly, how to deal with clients and provide the best possible results. All of the technical details are described in a manner that is easy to understand, even for a lay person. There is plenty to learn from this book, and professionals who work in the localization industry will definitely gain a lot from reading it.
